Mixed Media Installation

A soundscape features seven speakers, each carrying the voice of a different Indigenous woman poet reading a poem. The voices overlap as in murmured discussion, with poignant sections elevated to create an eighth poem or voice. Three televisions with looped videos depict memories from my life: a hand being fingerprinted, hands braiding hair, a mid-shot of myself, gazing back at the camera. These address stereotypes while creating more complex representations of continuing resistance to such restraints.
