A Succession of Red-Hot Moments

This exhibition features photographs taken of television coverage of my community during the Ipperwash Crisis. My own image extracted from news footage is placed at the bottom confronts viewers by staring back. My image is also cast in a rainbow of colours that moves through the light spectrum. Our sense of origin and place is no longer formed by space but by light controlled by corporations, through our exposure to television, films, computers and photography. This work addresses that digital light and the influence of the images transmitted by it. Ultimately the work is a call for sovereignty over First Nations images and stories.
